Objectives
EUS-live 2004 will be held in Amsterdam for the seventh time on June 3rd and 4th, 2004.The traditional setup will be used again this year with a combination of many live-cases performed by experts and a limited number of presentations. This formula was found to have a very high educational value for EUS-training, for both novice and experienced endoscopists. The Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam has a great infrastructure for this kind of teaching and two-way audio and video connections ensure optimal interaction between participants, moderator and endoscopists. In addition to our two-day course on Thursday and Friday, a hands-on EUS-workshop will be organized for a limited number of participants (max.20) on Wednesday afternoon.
EUS-live number 7 will have both familiar and new faces in the faculty. Dr Robert Hawes (Charleston, SC) and Dr Thomas Rösch (Munich, Germany) will give lectures and perform live-cases in their well known highly educational manner. The faculty has been enlarged with two new names. Amsterdam welcomes doctors Yasuda and Napoleon for EUS-live 2004. Dr Kenjiro Yasuda (Osaka,Japan) will be the president of the EUS 2004 in Tokyo, Japan. This conference builds on a long tradition and is regarded as the world EUS conference since its start in the eighties. Dr Bertrand Napoleon (Lyon, France) is a well known EUS-endoscopist and serves as a boardmember of the French Endosonography Club. The French Endosonography Club is one of the few organizations that has succeeded in initiating a well defined national training program for EUS. Together with our local faculty, consisting of Dr Jacques Bergman, Dr Marco Bruno and our AMC-fellows and nurses, we feel we have an absolute “ EUS dream team ” to make EUS 2004 a great educational success.
